FAQs

What classes are offered through H&H?

High School classes are offered based on the student's existing school schedule. Limited electives are also available. Middle School and Elementary classes include core subjects.

Does H&H offer AP, IB and Honors courses?

No, AP, IB and Honors courses are not offered.

Can my student take classes through H&H and on their home campus?

Yes, classes may be taken concurrently. If the student wants to play sports at their home school, they must be enrolled in at least 2 classes at the home school.

Can we, as parents, pick the classes to be taken through H&H?

Classes will be determined based on the needs of each student and discussed during the enrollment process with the H&H Administrator.

How long can my student remain in H&H?

The time spent in H&H is determined by a CA Licensed Medical or Psychiatric Professional.  Eligibility will be reviewed every 90 days and requires an extension from a medical or psychiatric professional.  Enrollment is based on the current school year only and a new referral must be submitted every school year.

Is it easy to extend my student's time in H&H?

Extensions during the school year are possible with a referral from a CA Licensed Medical or Psychiatric Professional.  Each referral may not exceed 90 days.

How do teachers meet/connect with the student?

Currently, H&H teachers meet with students 1 hour per subject per week. Some of our teachers are available during regular school hours, whereas others are only available after school hours. Depending on the situation, a student might have the same teacher for all subjects, but often they have 2 or 3 who teach 1-3 subjects.  The primary form of instruction is done virtually but sometimes arrangements may be made to meet in person at a public location or at the student's home with an adult present.

Can my high school student receive a grade and/or credit in H&H?

A high school student can earn .25 credits per week per subject. Students that enroll in H&H during the middle of a grading period will be issued quarter credit on their transcript (2.50 credits per subject) by blending the H&H grade with the withdrawal grade from the home school even if that grade is a "F".   If a student enrolls 2 weeks before a grading period ends, the home school is responsible for issuing grades. Home & Hospital is not a credit recovery program.
